Orlando Pirates are believed to be ready to go into the market for a few forwards in the off-season.

It is thought that Pirates will also offload some forwards to make room for some of their top attacking targets.

The club was already active in the January transfer window but didn’t sign any attackers. The likes of Thabiso Lebitso and Talent Mbatha were roped in by Pirates, who then saw Bienvenu Eva Nga released. Then perhaps, the biggest outgoing was that of club stalwart Thembinkosi Lorch. The playmaker shocked the local football fraternity by securing a deadline-day move to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

It is not expected that Pirates will be as idle when it comes to attacking signing in the off-season, however. The club have already been linked to a plethora of targets in that department. Some of those targets have been touted to be closer to joining than others. Here is a break down of EIGHT attackers linked to the club.

Eight attacking targets chiefly linked to the club

  1. Andy Boyeli: Pirates were reported to be closing in on a move for the DRC-born striker as early as January. He currently plies his trade in Zambia for Power Dynamos. It is said that it is the Buccaneers who have edged ahead of rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the race.

2.  Oswin Appollis: Pirates are believed to be in a race with arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs for the Bafana Bafana international. They will have to pay top dollar to Polokwane City to sign him, however, but Rise and Shine are reportedly willing to sell.

3. Freddy Michael Kouablan : The Ivorian striker currently turns out for Tanzanian giants Simba SC. Pirates are believed to be facing competition from their arch-rival Chiefs for his signature too, however.

4. Muzomuhle Khanyi: The 25-year-old is thought to have impressed Pirates while playing against them. He came on as a second half substitute for Hungry Lions in a Nedbank Cup game. Last week, the links intensified.

Who should join Pirates?

5. Tremaine Eastmond: The ex-Burnley striker was invited to Pirates training after not impressing at Cape Town Spurs. That was probably an eyebrow raiser alone. It is thought that he has impressed Buccaneers management and should be signed in the off-season.

6. Sabelo Ndzinisa: At the time of being linked to Pirates, the veteran Swati striker had 11 goals and 11 assists. It is thought that the club was really interested in the hitman, however, his age and job as a prison warden could hinder that.

7. Stephane Aziz Ki : Pirates are thought to be in a queue with clubs from North Africa and Chiefs for his services. The Burkinabe will be a free agent at the end of the season, with Aziz Ki’s agent claiming he will leave Yanga SC.

8. Decide Chauke: Khanyi is not the only striker from the lower divisions Pirates are targeting. Chauke is set to be a subject of an enquiry for the Buccaneers. He is currently playing for Casric Stars.
