The 69-year-old Belgium coach led Cameroon to the title at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and has been appointed South Africa mentor ahead of the start of 2022 Soccer World Cup qualification.

Speaking to SABC, Hugo Broos said: “I like fancy football. It is not for me to kick the ball 60 metres in front and wait (for a counter-attack). Sometimes you have to play like that, but it is not the way I want to play.”

At 69, Broos will be 74 “if” he sees out his full term.
