In a tense build-up to UFC 297, Sean Strickland has issued a serious threat to his opponent Dricus du Plessis.

The Escalating Feud
In a recent podcast, Strickland conveyed a clear message to du Plessis: “Remember when I attacked Dricus? I actually sent him a message. Dude listen, Dricus, we’re gonna go try to murder each other, but if you bring that sh*t up again, I will f****** stab you. Press conference, weigh in … he was cool about it.”

He continued, “I’m not telling you I don’t wanna fight you, Dricus, I’m not saying you’re not a good fighter. I’m just saying that’s a line that when crossed, it transcends fighting. If I go to Canada and you bring that up, guess what? I’m gonna go to jail, they’re gonna deport me and we spent eight weeks of training for no (expletive) reason.”

Dricus du Plessis: Unfazed and Ready for the Challenge
The conflict reached a boiling point at UFC 296 in Las Vegas, where the pair nearly came to blows during a stand-off. Strickland, known for his straightforward and often controversial comments, did not mince words about the potential consequences if du Plessis crosses the line during their upcoming face-off in Toronto.

Personal Trauma: A Trigger Point in Strickland’s Life
On his podcast with Chris Curtis, Strickland compared his reaction to du Plessis’ remarks to a racial slur, explaining how deeply personal the issue is for him.

He even went so far as to say, “If I had a f****** gun on me at that UFC fight — there was a chance” but emphasized that he doesn’t want to throw away his life over something trivial.
Dricus du Plessis’ Response to Strickland’s Threat
Du Plessis, unapologetic about his previous comments, remains unfazed. On The MMA Hour, he stated, “I’ll be ready for whatever he tries with me,” showcasing his focus on becoming the world champion despite the heated exchange.
