Canada recently celebrated their 100th Express Entry Draw which is exciting news for those looking to immigrate to Canada.
Over 62,000 people have already immigrated to Canada this year alone using this system. Those who do not have family or a job offer in Canada can use this system. Based on the Canadian government’s own reports, Canada will welcome 310,000 new Permanent Residents in 2018, 330,000 in 2019 and 340,000 in 2020.
The Express Entry system is designed to provide individuals with full Canadian Permanent Residency within as little as six months of applying. In order to qualify you need to have at least one year of post-secondary education, at least one year of full-time paid work experience and be fluent in French or English.
Canada does not have an “in-demand” occupation list, instead, they are looking for those who have work experience in management positions, professional occupations that typically require a university degree, technical jobs and skilled trades.
All applicants who apply through the Express Entry system are then assigned a score based on a variety of factors including age, education, work experience and language proficiency. This applicant’s score is then used to rank the applicant against all of the other applicants wanting to move to Canada.
An application will include the applicant’s spouse and dependent children, if applicable. The Canadian Government then selects the top-ranking candidates bimonthly. Those who are successful will then be considered for Canadian Permanent Residency.
While other countries are making it harder to immigrate to, Canada continues to welcome new immigrants. Though Canada may not be the first country that people think about when exploring the option of moving abroad, the country offers a wide variety of benefits such as:
For those who either cannot apply under the Express Entry system, or their score is too low to be selected, Canada offers other immigration options such as:
