Social media was abuzz after photos of one of the 338 ever-made Lamborghini Miura S made rounds on social media.

Popular car spotters RTM Supercars South Africa shared the photos on Instagram.

LAMBORGHINI MIURA: ‘THE FIRST CAR TO HAVE A REAR MID-ENGINE’

Taking to Instagram, RTM posted, “ICONIC LAMBORGHINI MIURA S The car that is credited for being the first Supercar ever, the legendary Lamborghini Miura. This stunning beauty is one of just 2 Miuras in SA belonging to the same owner. This car is valued at a staggering R30 million.”

Surprisingly, only two Miuras are in South Africa, and a few have reportedly made it to Africa. No doubt petrolheads have since given the car a nod. Many were quick to implicate its price tag into the mix.

According to reports, the rare Lamborghini Miura has a base price tag of R30 million. However, the prices of the cars depend on the year of manufacture and trims. Prices of rare cars such as the Lamborghini Miura have ballooned over the years because of online auctions.

WHY IS IT RARE AND SPECIAL?

The Miura model was produced between 1966 and 1973. However, it is arguably the first car to have a rear mid-engine and a two-seat layout. Over the years, the concept has since become the standard layout for high-performance sports cars. However, when released, the Lamborghini Miura was the fastest road car.

Surprisingly, Ferruccio Lamborghini only approved the concept of the car midway production since it was not part of the company’s production plan. There are several lines of the Lamborghini Miura, which include:

  • P400 – Only 275 units were made
  • P400S – 338 units hit the market
  • P400 SV – 150 units built
  • P400 Jota
  • P400 SVJ
  • Lamborghini Miura Roadster
  • P400 SVJ Spider

SPECIFICATIONS

  • It can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds
